Ochre & Beige has finally made blogging faster and easier for interior designers!

One more time… Ochre & Beige has finally made blogging faster and easier for interior designers!!

See ya later, old, slow blogging! (Can you tell I’m excited about this??)

So, how are we simplifying and streamlining this usually painful process, you ask?

With our latest creation, O&B Studio’s Blog Post Stylists.

What are Blog Post Stylists?

Blog Post Stylists are fun, quiz-style questionnaires that transform your responses into cohesive and SEO-savvy blog posts.

Now, these are not to be confused with “templates,” where you swap out a couple of words and call it a day. We did consider that idea… until we realized it would hurt your SEO. So we made a hard U-turn there and found a better way!

Each Blog Post Stylist contains a series of questions. Some are multiple choice. Some are one-word responses. Some ask you to write 1-4 sentences on a specific topic.

If you’re worried that you’re not a great writer, it’s okay. The questions are very leading, and you’ll find them easier to answer as you get the hang of it. Plus, you can always have someone you know (or us!) edit the post for you at the end!

WHY DO Blog Post Stylists Work?

Before I dive into the how, let’s talk about why. Why do Blog Post Stylists work for your business?

The reason they work (while templates would not), is because the writing is essentially coming from you. And if you’re “writing” the post, the chances of it word-for-word matching someone else’s is very low.

Keep in mind, too, that when you receive the copy of your final post, it’s by no means set in stone. You can still change it however you like. It won’t hurt your success (you’ll still have the appropriate framework, photo-labeling, and keywords) and doing so will only serve to further set you apart from the rest!

As for images, we always provide nearly double the amount you’ll need for each post in our membership portal, O&B Studio.

This creates more diversity between people posting on the same topic. Better yet, use your own project photos as much as possible! Just copy our model for simple SEO-labeling, and you’re good to go.

How Do You Use Blog Post Stylists?

Step 1: Choose a topic in O&B Studio
Step 2: Complete the Blog Post Stylist for that topic (How-To video below)
Step 3: Receive your blog post by email
Step 4: Copy/paste the text to your website and touch it up as needed
Step 5: Download our curated images and add them to the post (How-To video below)

THEN PUBLISH!

For our visual learners, here are two videos that guide you through the step-by-step details of the process. For the folks who still love text more than video (like me!), I’ve elaborated on each step below.

Text Version: Step-by-Step Process for Building Your Own Blog Post with O&B Studio

STEP 1: CHOOSE A TOPIC

If you’re a member of O&B Studio, you’ll have access to all of our Blog Post Stylists across 3 different categories:

  • Client Education

  • Design Advice & How-Tos

  • Trends & Inspiration

Choose a Stylist that corresponds to a topic that is valuable or interesting to you and your target client. Remember, we add new topics to O&B Studio every month to keep the content fresh and relevant.

If you signed up for our complementary Blog Post Stylist (titled 9 Surprising Benefits of Hiring an Interior Designer), it will be in your inbox. You can also sign up for it at the end of this post.

STEP 2: Fill Out the Blog Post Stylist

The Blog Post Stylist contains a series of questions. Some are multiple choice. Some are one-word responses. Some ask you to write 1-4 sentences on a specific topic.

If you’re worried that you’re not a great writer, it’s okay. The questions are very leading, and you’ll find them easier to answer as you get the hang of it. Plus, you can always have someone you know (or us) edit the post for you at the end.

Step 3: Receive Your Blog Post by Email (Immediately AND in 24 Biz Hours)

Your finalized blog post will be sent to you by email as soon as you finish the Blog Post Stylist and hit Submit. The email will also give you instructions for adding the post to your website and creating the appropriate headers, but you will have to format it yourself.

However…

If you wait 24 business hours, we’ll also email you a pre-formatted document that you can copy and paste with the headings already good to go. Please note that we will only do this for submitted Blog Post Stylists that appear fully complete!

STEP 4: Copy & Paste the Text to Your Website

ob-studio-blog-post-delivered-by-email.png

Now Copy. Paste. Edit out any unwanted extra spacing. Give it a proofread (or give it to someone else to do) if you haven’t already. Then…

  • Add “tags” using the keywords we recommend (tags can be entered in the righthand panel for WP users, bottom for Squarespace)

  • Add any appropriate categories

  • Add an excerpt (I usually use the first couple lines of my blog post)

Note: If you’ve selected our Premium O&B Studio membership, we’ll format the post for you in your website portal within 5 business days.

Step 5: Download Pre-Selected Images & Add to your website

ob-studio-download-stock-photos-interior-designers-curated-seo-labeled.png

Each Blog Post Stylist comes with a folder of stock photos we’ve curated, resized, and labeled for SEO. There will always be more photos than we suggest for one post. This is to give you options and because we know that not everyone’s firm has the exact same look and brand.

Now, for SEO labeling. Labels will look something like this:

Simply add your business name and location as indicated. So then it will look like this:

Note: If “interior design” is already in the filename, you don’t need to add it again in your firm’s name.

Now, just drag and drop them into the blog post at even intervals where appropriate. I usually suggest having enough photos that you never have your screen entirely full of text (it scares folks!). This blog post and the others on The O&B Blog are a good example of balancing photos and text.

Lastly, for WordPress users, don’t forget to add a “featured image” (right-hand panel when formatting your post), or for Squarespace users, a “Thumbnail Image” under the “Options” tab when formatting your post.

THEN Publish!

That. is. it. You have a live blog post!

Now, and can go celebrate or doing something you enjoy with all the TIME you saved!

So… how do you actually get all the goods?
